About IPL Guessr

IPL Guessr (also searched as IPL Guesser) is a free daily cricket puzzle game inspired by Wordle. Every 24 hours, a new mystery player from the 2026 Indian Premier League is selected — your challenge is to identify them in eight guesses or fewer using attribute clues. Whether you are a die-hard IPL fan or just looking for a daily brain workout, IPL Guessr has something for you. Come back every day and keep your streak alive.

What is IPL Guessr?

IPL Guessr is a cricket Wordle — a guessing game built for IPL fans. Instead of guessing a word, you guess a player. Each guess you make is compared to the mystery player across seven different attributes: team, country, role, batting hand, age, international cap status and IPL seasons played. Colour-coded feedback tells you how close each guess was, helping you zero in on the correct answer.

The game covers the full rosters of all ten 2026 IPL franchises: Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings. The answer pool includes over 150 players — domestic stars and international superstars alike.

How do you play IPL Guessr step by step?

Playing IPL Guessr is straightforward. Here is how to get started:

1. Open the game. Go to iplguessr.com. A new mystery player is waiting every day. Your progress and streak are saved so you can return any time.

2. Type a player's name. Start typing any 2026 IPL player's name in the search box and select them from the dropdown. Your first guess can be anyone in the squad — use it to gather information.

3. Read the colour clues. After each guess, seven attribute tiles light up in green, yellow or grey. Green is an exact match. Yellow is close. Grey is no match. Use these clues to narrow down who the mystery player could be.

4. Keep guessing. You have up to eight guesses. Each attempt should use what you have learnt from the previous clues to eliminate more possibilities and get closer to the answer.

5. Solve and share. Identify the mystery player, see your stats, and share your result. Come back tomorrow for a fresh challenge — a new player is selected every day at midnight.

How does IPL Guessr work?

The colour guide

Every attribute tile changes colour after each guess. Green means that attribute is an exact match with the mystery player. Yellow means the value is close but not identical — see the rules for each attribute below. Grey means there is no match at all and you can rule out that value.

The seven attributes

Team — the IPL franchise the player represents in 2026. Green if it matches exactly. Grey if different.

Country — the player's nationality. Green for an exact match. Yellow if the mystery player is from the same continent but a different country. Grey if different continents.

Role — one of four roles: Batter, All-Rounder, Fast Bowler or Spin Bowler. Green for exact. Yellow for a closely related role — Fast Bowler and Spin Bowler both turn yellow against each other, and All-Rounders partially match batting and bowling roles.

Bat Hand — right-handed or left-handed. Green or grey only.

Age — green if the age matches exactly, yellow if the mystery player is within three years older or younger. An upward arrow ↑ means the mystery player is older; a downward arrow ↓ means younger.

Cap Status — whether the player has represented their country in international cricket. Green or grey only.

Seasons — total IPL seasons played. Green for exact, yellow if within three seasons. The arrow shows whether the mystery player has played more (↑) or fewer (↓) seasons than your guess.

The daily reset

A fresh mystery player is chosen every day. Your guesses are saved in your browser so you can pick up mid-game if you close the tab, and your win percentage and streak carry over day to day.

Game illustration

Here is how the three colour results look in practice. Each colour tells you something different about your guess:

India
Green — exact match. This attribute is identical to the mystery player's.
28 ↑
Yellow — close but not exact. The arrow shows the direction: mystery player is older ↑ or younger ↓, has more ↑ or fewer ↓ seasons, or is a related role / same continent.
RR
Grey — no match. Rule this attribute value out entirely.

Here is a full example. Say you guess Rohit Sharma (MI · India · Batter · Right · Age 38 · Capped · 17 seasons):

Your guess → Rohit Sharma
MI Team
India Country
Batter Role
Right Bat Hand
38 ↓ Age
Capped Cap Status
17 ↓ Seasons

Team is grey — the mystery player is not from MI.
Country, Role, Bat Hand and Cap Status are all green — exact matches.
Age is yellow with ↓ — mystery player is younger than 38 but within 3 years (so 35–37).
Seasons is yellow with ↓ — mystery player has fewer than 17 seasons but within 3 (so 14–16).
From one guess you have already narrowed it down: right-handed Indian Batter, capped, aged 35–37, 14–16 IPL seasons, not from MI.

What strategies help you win at IPL Guessr?

Your first guess

Pick a player who covers a broad spread of attributes. An experienced Indian All-Rounder from one of the bigger franchises is a strong opener — it touches the most common values in the answer pool and returns useful clues across multiple attributes at once. You are not trying to win on guess one; you are collecting information.

Use the Country continent clue

When the Country tile turns yellow, you know the mystery player is from the same continent as your guess but a different country. This can eliminate entire nationalities in a single move. For example, if you guess an Australian and get yellow, the mystery player is likely from another part of Asia rather than Australia.

The Seasons arrow is powerful

The ↑ or ↓ arrow on Seasons tells you immediately whether the mystery player is more or less experienced than your guess. Use this to separate long-serving veterans with ten-plus seasons from newer players in their first few years. It cuts the remaining pool roughly in half each time.

Lock in the Role early

A yellow Role result narrows the mystery player to a closely related role. Once you know whether the player bats, bowls fast, bowls spin or is an All-Rounder, you have eliminated a large chunk of the player pool. Getting Role to green by guess three is a strong position to be in.

Keep your streak going

IPL Guessr resets every day at midnight. Check your Stats after each game and use the share button to challenge friends. Players who return daily tend to improve quickly as they build a mental map of the player pool and common attribute patterns.
